"APRIL - POETRY MONTH - ETERNAL LIFE MONTH"
It wasn't that many months ago I was snapping photos of a beautiful and vivacious young woman at her wedding brunch.
Still a new bride on earth, she is also a bride of Christ and rests in His mercy and compassion as she trusts Him to wrap her in His arms, sometimes carrying her when the next steps are difficult and unsure.
April is poetry month. Also, on Sunday, we celebrate Christ's Passion for us. This Easter, as Meredith's thoughts are directed to the true meaning of this celebration and what Christ's death and resurrection means for all of us, I feel confidant she will be giving thanks for the assurance that no matter what trials and tribulations she endures in her life's journey, she belongs to Him and is safe from all harm in His arms. And she knows, her God is the God of miracles!
So, my dear precious one, this poem is for you. And may those throughout the world who read this, continue to lift you up in prayer.
FOR MEREDITH
I saw you walk down the aisle
beautiful beyond compare
my big sister who helped
guide me through life
helped keep me out of trouble
picked me up when I fell
held me crying in your arms
brushing away all tears
and heard your jubilant answer
when the pastor asked,
"Do you take this man
to be your lawful wedded
husband to have and to hold,
from this day forward?"
All I could think of was bone
of his bone, flesh of
his flesh, and though
it pained me to lose you
I heard you say yes.
But later when I heard
your diagnosis - needing
a bone marrow transplant
so young, carefree, when
you had the world by the tail
a still new bride with morning
dew misting bright eyes and my
bone marrow checked out a match
it was I who held you crying,
in my arms, bone of my bone, flesh
of my flesh, and with no reservation
heard myself say with jubilation, "Yes."
P.S. - Please pray for Meredith
